Throwback Thursday: Krka National Park, Croatia

The Liu and Shen households are gearing up for another cruise this spring. Therefore,I thought I'd kick off the year's throwback posts by revisiting another stop on our last cruise around the Adriatic Sea in 2012.

After a day in Dubrovnik, we headed north to the country's 2nd largest city: Split. The city itself is a bit more commercial and not nearly as idyllic as its famous neighbor to the south. However, the highlight of the day on land was heading outside of town to Krka National Park. This beautiful nature reserve surrounding the Krka River is dotted with countless waterfalls, cascades, lakes and tiny islands. Visitors can navigate one of the park's most scenic sections, Skradinski Buk, by walking along a series of narrow wooden paths.

During the summer, visitors can wade in the shallow lakes and swim right up to the various waterfalls. Unfortunately, during our visit, the weather wasn't quite warm enough just yet.
