I visited the seaside city of Dubrovnik in 2012. We only had a day in town as it was one of many stops on our Adriatic cruise. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day, and the walled Old Town is easily navigable on foot.
The UNESCO World Heritage-listed city is absolutely breathtaking from every angle. Make sure to walk atop city walls where you will be find various panoramic views of Old Town. The stone buildings and red terracotta roofs are striking against the gorgeous, blue Adriatic backdrop. As you wind the narrow streets of the city, you will encounter multiple food markets and tiny eateries. We stumbled upon a great alfresco restaurant that offered some of the freshest seafood we had on our entire trip. Unfortunately, the name of said restaurant completely eludes me.
Our trip coincided with the premiere of HBO's Game of Thrones Season 2. Much of the show was filmed in Dubrovnik. As you can imagine, I completely geeked out while exploring King's Landing. Perhaps I'll join the GoT walking tour next time around.
