Before I get ahead of myself, I should probably tell everyone a bit more about myself. A native Texan, I had a fairly uneventful upbringing in the suburbs of Dallas. I built a reputation for being both a crybaby and a risk taker. Anything and everything made me cry. My ability to turn on the waterworks at any moment was an invaluable skill - one that would terrorize my sister and every kid in sight.
Despite always being scared shitless, I was also a frequent wanderer (hey! that's the name of this site!). I loved exploring the creeks and woods behind our house. Hardly a year went by where I wasn't wearing a cast on my arm or bandage over my knees. I also started exhibiting signs of the travel bug at a young age. During every family road trip, I would sit in the passenger seat and pretend to be a co-captain on "Budget Airlines". Yes, I understand that I was in a car, not an airplane.
Quickly skipping past some insignificant details (like my obsession for marching band or Michelle Kwan)... I ventured my way east to Washington, DC to attend Georgetown University. While I enjoyed my 4 years in college immensely, I probably spent too much time doing keg stands (sorry, Mom) rather than taking full advantage of my surroundings. Nevertheless, I will always be a die-hard Hoyas fan.
After college, I spent a few more years in DC working as a consultant at Deloitte . One of these years was actually an extended project that required me to travel to New Orleans on a weekly basis. This is when my interest in travel planning became an obsession. I was adamant in staying at the same hotel and taking the same airline to rack up the points. More importantly, I was fortunate enough to experience some amazing meals and soak in the culture of this unique city.
Following my stint at Deloitte, I moved to NYC and joined Google. I loved living in such a vibrant city and being near my best friends. I also can't think of a better company to work for as I've grown and learned so much in the last 4 years. Google afforded me the opportunity to pursue my personal passion, and just 2 months ago, I transferred to London!
Today, I'm sitting at a coffee shop near my new flat in Belsize Park, London, writing this post. I can't wait for the adventures to come and documenting my various experiences. So I hope you'll continue following me at www.frequentwanderer.com!
